The primary responsibility of the hospitalist or inpatient physician specialist is to providegeneral medical and pediatric care to inpatients and selected outpatients (e.g., when consultationis requested by an Emergency Department physician to help determine patient=s disposition, whenconsultation is requested in Surgical Services or the Post Anesthesia Care Unit by a surgeon oranesthesia practitioner for an outpatient). Such care includes obtaining a history from patientsand examination, diagnosis, treatment, and overall coordination of care of general medical andpediatric patients as assigned.Schedule and WorkloadPhysician shall generally work 7-day consecutive shifts (primarily day, but may include somenight shifts) to meet operational needs on a rotating 7 on 7 off schedule.Average of 2-5 new admissions or consults per shift. Average daily census is 15 on MedSurg and2 in ICU. 90% adults, 10% Pediatric. 85% Medicine, 14% Surgery, 1% Trauma. 25 total beds, 5ICU...
