The Social Worker Senior/ UKHC position serves as a member of the UKHC team to enhance support for patients, families, providers and staff. The Social Worker role is critical to ensuring our patients and families have the necessary medical and financial resources available to them where specific problems related to environmental and/or psychological aspects influence the effective utilization of inpatient or outpatient treatment.

The ESH Social Worker Senior/Inpatient performs a full range of clinical services related to the care and treatment of adult psychiatric patients as defined by the scope of practice. Provides ongoing treatment to caseload of patients utilizing a variety of skilled therapeutic techniques. Provides psychiatric social services to patients and their families in cases where specific problems related to environmental and/or psychological aspects influence the effective utilization of inpatient or outpatient treatment. Performs related functions as required. The ESH Social Worker Senior/Inpatient may supervise student practicum placements and provide clinical supervision, if applicable. The ESH Social Worker Senior/Inpatient provides coverage when the Active Treatment Coordinator is unavailable.

Provides psychosocial assessments for all consulted/referred patients and in situations of abuse and neglect of all age groups; provides follow-up as needed.

The NICU is hiring a Principle Social Worker to develop a closer partnership with Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology in caring for the infants and their families in the NICU . The Principle Social Worker would be available to assist NICU staff in their interactions with families of infants on the NICU as well as directly work with parents as they manage the stress and uncertainty of their infant’s medical status and care.
