JOB SUMMARY The Certified Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician and/or nursing staff. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. May perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Obtains appropriate patient medical history necessary to perform diagnostic procedures as ordered; radiology, laboratory, audiometry (if applicable) and spirometry.
