Overview This program provides the entry-level training that will prepare individuals for work as emergency medical technicians (EMTs) at HEMSI. Individuals that successfully complete this program will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) examination at the emergency medical technician (EMT) level and will have an understanding of HEMSI-specific clinical policies and procedures. National Registry certification is required for State of Alabama EMT licensure. EMT course completion is also required to continue to Advanced EMT or paramedic-level education. Overview Anesthesia Technician supports the anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist by preparing and setting up appropriate equipment and supplies for each surgical case.  Assists in coordinating preventive maintenance on anesthia equipment with GE, BioMed, and Maintenance departments.  Also performs clerical work for the department.  Responsibilities Facilitates preparation of necessary anesthesia equipment. Washes, disinfects, and assembles instruments in preparation for sterilization. Maintains ordering and stocking of anesthesia supplies in surgical suite including anesthesia workroom, carts, and pre-op holding area.
