Overview The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) implements clinical documentation improvement (CDI) activities in an effort to support accuracy and quality of the patient records at CHS facilities and to ensure that coded diagnoses are an accurate reflection of the patient’s clinical status and care. The role of the CDI specialist involves reviewing the medical record documentation and clinical indicators and working with providers to ensure a complete and accurate medical record. Overview The Emergency Department Tech performs patient care needs and task where a license is not required, as directed by the nurse. This may include, but not limited to, assisting with toileting, specimen collection, vital signs, patient transport, cardiac monitor application, EKG’s and finger stick glucose after appropriate training.   The ED Tech also may perform clerical, secretarial duties related to the assigned unit under the direction of the unit director.  He/she acts as the unit’s receptionist, answers patient and visitor inquirers within the scope of practice.  In addition, the unit secretary will order and monitor utilization of selected supplies: office, nutritional supplements, and forms.
