The Student Nurse LNA Extern Program is open to UVM nursing students who have completed their Sophomore year . Through a mentoring relationship with Licensed Nurse Assistants , Student Nurse LNA Externs are able to provide direct patient care under the LNA scope of practice . Externs will also receive observational learning experiences by working one-on-one with their LNA mentor/preceptor to a variety of different patient populations .
