The Unit Secretary must be knowledgeable in recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect, and cognizant of safety issues, both environmental and medical.   He/She must be capable of functioning as receptionist and liason between Med/Surg Units and other hospital departments and the Medical Staff.
