Overview  Summary Provides technical assistance under the direction of the registered nurse for a defined group of patients to achieve quality patient outcomes. Provides service functions and communication to staff, patients, and guests. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Assesses the patient under the direction of a registered nurse. Collects patient data. Performs technical skills under the direction of the registered nurse. Contributes to the development of a plan of care under the direction of a registered nurse. Implements the plan of care under the direction of a registered nurse. Provides patient care and assistance to nursing staff as directed. Participates in activities designed to improve health care delivery. Builds knowledge base regarding clinical leadership. Participates in ongoing educational activities. Completes assigned goals.

Supervisory: Supervises the Department Secretary and Associate Chaplain.  This position also mentor’s two chaplains part-time that are located at the Women’s Hospital and Inpatient Hospice. Pastoral Care Activities: Coordinates pastoral care activities with plans of care developed from spiritual assessments, which are performed with patients to support medical and/or nursing plans of care. Patients and Family Members: Serves patients and family members with spiritual care or counseling and support during their stay.  This position provides appropriate devotional materials and literature for patients, family members, visitors, and employees.
