JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Respiratory Therapist at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care services to a diverse patient population, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory standards. The therapist will offer direct respiratory care as prescribed by physicians, manage equipment and documentation, and contribute to the overall mission of the hospital by ensuring patient safety and satisfaction. Effective communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills are crucial, given the extensive contact with various stakeholders including patients, staff, and physicians.
JOB
FUNCTIONS

Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents quality Respiratory Therapy services to patients in accordance with hospital policies/procedures and criterion established by various legal and regulatory accrediting bodies.

Provides direct respiratory care to patients as prescribed by the patient’s attending physician.These disciplines include:patient evaluation/assessment, ventilation, managing airways, oxygenation, quality control and diagnostic procedures including blood gases as requested, and related duties (documenting permanent health information on each patient treated).

Initiates responsibilities in an quality, timely, cost effective, confidential, professional manner conducive with the overall mission/vision of the hospital.

Adheres to general safety and infection control standards.

Cleans and sterilizes respiratory equipment in a timely manner to ensure compliance with infection control standards, initiates preventive maintenance on departmental equipment; and selects, assembles, and properly tests equipment prior to initiating patient care.

Performs other duties as assigned while demonstrating willingness, ability and team spirit to provide optimal customer satisfaction.

Attends, demonstrates, and participates in required inservices, performance improvement activities (including EXCEL), annual competencies, and other educational programs.

Education

Associate's Degree Respiratory. Required
Licenses and Certifications

RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner

Licensure must be current, valid, and in good standing

Good communication skills is required in order to effectively communicate with inter and intra departmental employees, physicians and their office personnel, patients and their family members, and public.

The incumbent must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills needed to proficiently provide care to a patient population to include: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

New incumbents must or must have complete In Depth hospital orientation as well as Respiratory Care Department specific orientation.

This position has the primary responsibility of initiating quality Respiratory Therapy services to patients as well as serving as a resource for physicians, staff, and students.

The incumbent will assess, plan, implement , evaluate, and document Respiratory Therapy services administered to patients.

It is expected that the incumbent perform, his/her responsibilities in a quality, timely, cost effective, confidential, professional manner conducive with the overall mission/vision of the hospital.

The incumbent will have extensive contact with inter and intra departmental personnel, physicians and their office personnel, patients and their family members, and the public.

It is imperative that he/she have good communication skills and reflect a positive, caring attitude toward both staff and public.
