Community Overview
If you haven't visited the Ruby Valley, you've missed a little slice of heaven. Located one hour south of Butte, Montana, the Ruby Valley is nestled between four mountain ranges, the Tobacco Root Mountains, the Ruby Range, the Greenhorn Range and the McCartney Mountains. These mountain ranges shelter the area from the harsher Montana winters. In the summer, the ranges provide abundant opportunities for wildlife viewing, camping, hiking, fishing, boating and mountain biking.
School and Community
The Ruby Valley is an ideal location to raise a family. The local schools are one of the community's focal points and small classes facilitate engagement and communication. You'll find a strong, supportive community built on diverse talents. Some ranching families have lived in the Valley for generations. Many Ruby Valley newcomers made the decision to move after vacationing in the area for a few years. There are a wide variety of community organizations ranging from cultural and civic improvement to 4H.
Outdoor Activities
The Ruby Valley is home to four blue ribbon fishing rivers. There are also abundant opportunities for hiking, hunting, geocaching, cycling, cross-country skiing, and bird watching in the immediate area. At the east end of the Valley, historic reenactments are held every weekend during the summer at Nevada City. Yellowstone National Park, four ski resorts, spelunking, snowmobiling and many other cultural and outdoor activities are within a two hour drive of the Ruby Valley.
