Oncology - Medical Oncology Physician

Locum tenens oncology physician opportunity in Lafayette, Indiana, with a supportive hematology and oncology team, a weekday outpatient schedule, and limited hospital call coverage. • Position: Locum Tenens Hematology-Oncology Physician
• Location: Lafayette, Indiana
• Setting: Outpatient oncology clinic with hospital call coverage as needed
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Patient Care Hours: 36 hours of ambulatory clinic coverage per week
• Patient Volume: Approximately 15-18 patient encounters per shift
• Call Coverage: Every 4th or 5th week, one full week at a time
• Shift Details: 9-hour shifts with 30 minutes of admin time and a 1-hour lunch included
• Duration: 13 weeks, with ongoing need
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $6,160 - $7,290
• Start Date: ASAP
• Certification: BLS required
• Board Status: Board certified required; board eligible considered

• At least 1 year of experience in oncology and/or hematology practice
• Experience providing outpatient oncology care in a clinic or cancer center setting
• Ability to manage both oncology and hematology patients, including benign hematology cases
• Active physician license preferred, with Indiana medical license strongly preferred
• Active DEA preferred
• Ability to participate in hospital call coverage and new consult evaluations
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, patient-centered approach
• Comfort working in a team-based practice model with nurse practitioner support
• Ability to provide professional references and complete onboarding requirements in a timely manner

• Provide high-quality outpatient hematology-oncology care to adult patients
• Evaluate and manage patients with a 70% oncology / 30% hematology mix
• Deliver new consults during assigned hospital call weeks
• Round on patients and support continuity of care during call coverage
• Collaborate with nurse practitioners, who round on existing patients and help support the practice
• Review patient workups, develop treatment plans, and coordinate follow-up care
• Maintain a patient-focused approach in a busy but well-organized clinical environment
• Work efficiently within scheduled clinic time while allowing for administrative tasks
