What We Offer:
  • Schedule: 6:30A-5PM, Full time, 40 hours, four 10 hour shifts. M-F with some call and weekend call requirements (will be reviewed more upon interview).
  • Department: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
  • Location: Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC.
  • Requirements: This position requires CVOR experience.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred - BSN.
  • Experience: 1 year Cardiovascular surgical and/or OR experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. BLS, required.
  • Additional Skills (required):
    • Highly trained to perform open-heart surgical procedures.
    • Highly specialized in cardiovascular procedures and acuity, instrumentation, and breath of knowledge.
    • Ability to manage the increase workload that may be experienced in the CVOR.
    • Ability to take high volume of on call for cardiovascular cases.
    • Ability to handle difficult situations and effectively perform under the highest levels of stress.
    • Ability to accommodate varying schedules.
    • Ability to effectively work with and manipulate equipment such as tandem heart, balloon pump, cardiopulmonary bypass/heart-lung machines, and perfusion cannulation.
    • Med-Rad injector skills.
    • Ability to perform operations of hybrid CV suite, equipment and bed.
  • Additional Skills (preferred): Critical Thinking Skills
What You'll Do:
  • Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures, including open-heart and vascular surgeries
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists to ensure safe and efficient surgical outcomes

  • Prepare operating rooms with specialized cardiovascular equipment, instrumentation, and sterile supplies

  • Circulate during cardiac surgeries

  • Monitor patient status during surgery and promptly communicate significant changes to the surgical team
