Job Description
Boston Children's Hospital seeks a Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Department, Plastics, and Oral Surgery teams. In this pediatric role, you will perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, assist in surgical and bedside procedures, and manage acute and post-operative care. You'll collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary specialists to deliver family-centered care, provide patient and parent education, and support seamless care transitions. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pediatric assessments and histories in ED, plastics, and oral surgery settings.
- Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostics to guide care plans.
- Assist with and perform procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, and minor bedside interventions.
- Support intraoperative and perioperative management for plastics and oral surgery cases.
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including pain control, discharge planning, and follow-up coordination.
- Document all encounters and orders accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and follow-up care.
- Collaborate closely with attending physicians, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical protocols, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and pediatric specialty training.
