Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit

Trusted Health is hiring a Surgical/Orthopedic Staff RN to provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients undergoing orthopedic and surgical procedures. In this role, you will perform comprehensive assessments, coordinate perioperative and post-op care, administer medications, and collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams. You'll educate patients and families, uphold infection control standards, and support safe discharges. Responsibilities

• Provide direct bedside care to orthopedic and surgical patients from admission through discharge, following evidence based nursing standards.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, including pain, neurovascular, and mobility evaluations, and update individualized care plans accordingly.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and pain control interventions safely and accurately, monitoring and documenting patient responses.
• Deliver meticulous post operative care, including wound assessment, dressing changes, drain management, and monitoring for complications such as infection or DVT.
• Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, mobility precautions, pain management, and home care instructions.
• Coordinate care and communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, physical and occupational therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring pre operative checklists, consent, labs, and diagnostics are complete and accurately documented.
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, activating rapid response or escalation protocols as needed.
• Support early mobilization and safe ambulation, collaborating with therapy services to optimize functional outcomes and prevent falls.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), adhering to regulatory and organizational standards.
• Precept and mentor newer nurses or travelers as appropriate, contributing to a collaborative, learning focused unit culture.
• Uphold infection prevention, safety, and quality initiatives, participating in performance improvement activities as requested.
