Medical ICU Registered Nurse

Job Description

Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Medical ICU Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill adult patients. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement complex nursing care, manage ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring, administer IV medications, and respond to emergencies. Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the medical ICU.
  • Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient status, including hemodynamics and ventilator settings.
  • Administer and titrate IV medications, fluids, and blood products according to protocols and provider orders.
  • Respond to emergencies and participate in code situations and rapid response events.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care needs.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, and quality standards to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
  • Precept and support new staff and participate in ongoing education and skills development.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and uphold Methodist Healthcare's mission and values.
