Physician - Pediatric Hospitalist - Pediatrics - Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine

Job Details:
  • Urgent locum tenens coverage providing inpatient pediatric hospitalist services on a 24-hour beeper call schedule
  • Provider must be a pediatric hospitalist with neonatology experience, or a neonatologist who is comfortable seeing general pediatrics patients
  • Case mix is approximately 80% NICU and 20% pediatrics, managing NICU patients down to 32 weeks gestation
  • Responsibilities include newborn resuscitations and management of 32-week preemies and above
  • Shift times run 6am to 6am with specific date blocks available throughout the fall and winter schedule
  • Active California medical license required; CA-licensed providers only will be considered
  • Board certified or board eligible within 3-5 years of residency required
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
  • Active DEA required
  • Clean file required - providers with malpractice history, NPDB flags, restrictions, terminations, or Medical Board actions are not eligible
  • Credentialing timeframe is approximately 30-60 days
  • Required procedural skills include:
  • Neonatal airway management including intubation (newborn and pediatric ETT/NT)
  • Management of neonatal air leak and pneumothorax including needle decompression
  • Emergent UVC placement in the delivery room
  • UVC and UAC placement
  • Lumbar puncture
  • EKG interpretation
  • Central line placement
  • Invasive ventilation management including ETT
