Job Description
UCHealth is seeking a compassionate RN to join our Birth Center L&D team for weekend day shifts. In this on-site role, you will provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care to mothers and newborns, using advanced monitoring and evidence-based practices in a collaborative, academic setting. Responsibilities include maternal-fetal assessment, medication and IV administration, supporting vaginal and operative deliveries, responding to obstetric emergencies, and educating families. Responsibilities
- Provide direct labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum nursing care to birthing patients and newborns on weekend day shifts.
- Continuously assess maternal and fetal status, interpreting fetal monitoring and responding to changes promptly.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and obstetric interventions per provider orders and hospital protocols.
- Prepare for and assist with vaginal and operative deliveries, obstetric emergencies, and neonatal stabilization.
- Educate and support patients and families on birth plans, pain management options, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and support staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Follow safety, infection prevention, and quality standards while contributing to unit-based improvement initiatives.
