RN Special Procedures

UCHealth is seeking an RN Special Procedures nurse to deliver advanced, patient-centered care in a high-acuity procedural environment. In this role, you will support interventional and diagnostic procedures by preparing patients, administering moderate sedation, monitoring hemodynamic status, and ensuring safe recovery. Working closely with physicians and technologists, you will use evidence-based practice, cutting-edge technology, and strong critical-thinking skills to optimize outcomes. Responsibilities

• Perform and assist with interventional and special procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile technique and safety protocols
• Monitor patient status before, during, and after procedures, including sedation and recovery care
• Administer medications, contrast agents, and IV therapies per provider orders and organizational policy
• Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate efficient patient care
• Educate patients and families about procedures, pre- and post-care instructions, and follow-up needs
• Document assessments, interventions, medications, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
• Respond to emergencies, perform rapid assessments, and support code and critical response situations
• Maintain and troubleshoot procedure room equipment and supplies, reporting issues promptly
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and evidence-based practice projects
• Precept and mentor new staff and students, supporting a culture of learning and teamwork
