RN Special Procedures

UCHealth is seeking an RN Special Procedures nurse to deliver expert, patient-first care for individuals undergoing interventional and diagnostic procedures. In this on-site role, you'll assess and prepare patients, assist during procedures, manage moderate sedation, and monitor hemodynamic status to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes. You'll collaborate closely with physicians and a multidisciplinary team in an advanced, academic-affiliated setting that values innovation, respect, and continuous learning. Responsibilities

• Perform and document nursing assessments for patients undergoing special procedures (e.g., interventional radiology, cardiac cath, endoscopy).
• Prepare patients and procedure rooms, including IV insertion, medication administration, and monitoring equipment setup.
• Circulate, assist, and scrub as appropriate during procedures, ensuring strict adherence to safety and infection-control standards.
• Continuously monitor patient status, vitals, and sedation levels; recognize and respond to changes in condition.
• Provide pre- and post-procedure education, discharge instructions, and emotional support to patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Administer moderate sedation per protocol and monitor for complications, intervening promptly when needed.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record and complete required procedural records.
• Participate in on-call rotations, rapid response situations, and emergency procedures as assigned.
• Support quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and continuing education initiatives within the specials/procedures unit.
