Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse

Job Description

UCHealth is seeking a Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse to deliver exceptional patient-centered care across multiple intensive and acute care units. In this role, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for diverse, high-acuity patients while adapting quickly to changing environments and unit needs. You'll collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, support evidence-based practices, and serve as a clinical resource across the system. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct critical care nursing to high-acuity patients across multiple ICUs and acute units
  • Float between designated units based on staffing and patient acuity needs
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and implement evidence-based care plans
  • Administer and titrate IV medications, including vasoactive drips, per protocols
  • Monitor and manage ventilators, hemodynamics, and complex equipment
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
  • Respond to emergencies, rapid responses, and codes as needed
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
  • Document care accurately in the EHR and follow regulatory and safety standards
  • Participate in ongoing education, quality improvement, and professional development
