Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality CT examinations for emergent and urgent patients in a free-standing emergency room, following physician orders and department protocols.
- Prioritize and coordinate imaging for trauma, stroke, chest pain, and other time-sensitive cases to support rapid clinical decision-making.
- Ensure accurate patient identification, procedure verification, and proper consent, maintaining strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Position patients safely and effectively, using appropriate immobilization and communication to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
- Administer IV contrast media as ordered, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and respond appropriately to emergent situations.
- Apply radiation safety and ALARA principles to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
- Review images for technical quality and completeness, and promptly communicate critical or unexpected findings to the emergency provider as appropriate to role and policy.
- Operate CT scanners, injectors, and related equipment, and complete exams within expected timeframes while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Document procedures, contrast usage, and patient information accurately in the electronic health record and radiology information system.
- Collaborate closely with emergency physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

- Follow infection prevention, equipment cleaning, and room turnover procedures to maintain a safe, clean environment for patients and staff.

- Assist with orientation and mentoring of new technologists or students as requested, modeling best practices and professional behavior.

- CT scanning protocols (head, chest, abdomen/pelvis, spine, angiography)
- Operation of multi-slice CT scanners and PACS/RIS systems
