Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care for surgical patients, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases.
- Circulate and/or scrub for a wide range of surgical procedures following aseptic and safety protocols.
- Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes in patient condition during surgery.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs to ensure safe, efficient procedures.
- Prepare, verify, and manage surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for each case.
- Educate and support patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and post-op care.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Follow hospital, regulatory, and infection prevention standards to maintain a safe OR environment.
- Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and staff education within the OR.
- Precept and mentor new staff as needed and contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven culture.
