Job Description
Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio, TX is seeking a PRN Respiratory Care Practitioner CRT to deliver high-quality respiratory therapy to acute and critical care patients. In this role, you will assess pulmonary status, administer oxygen and aerosol therapies, perform ventilator management, and conduct diagnostic tests such as ABGs and spirometry under physician orders. You'll collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and other clinicians, document care in the EMR, respond to respiratory emergencies, educate patients and families, and uphold Methodist's mission-driven, patient-focused standards and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients' respiratory status and document findings in EMRAdminister oxygen, aerosol therapies, and respiratory medications per physician orders
- Perform ventilator setup, management, and weaning for acute and critical care patients
- Conduct diagnostic tests including arterial blood gases and basic pulmonary function tests
- Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in rapid response and code teams
- Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies, equipment, and disease management
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals on care plans
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and ensure proper operation of respiratory therapy equipment
- Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory standards and hospital protocols
- Participate in quality improvement and continuing education activities within the department
