Job Description
BJC HealthCare is seeking a dedicated Neurology Clinical Nurse to deliver expert, compassionate care to patients with complex neurologic conditions. In this role, you'll perform focused neuro assessments, manage stroke and seizure protocols, administer specialized treatments, and collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes and safety. You will educate patients and families, support evidence-based practice, and participate in quality and process-improvement initiatives. Responsibilities
- Provide specialized neurology nursing care for acute and chronic neurologic conditions (stroke, seizures, neuromuscular disorders, neuro-trauma).
- Perform comprehensive neurological assessments, monitor status changes, and escalate concerns to the neurology team promptly.
- Administer medications, infusions, and neurologic treatments safely while following evidence-based protocols and BJC policies.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care with physicians, rehab, pharmacy, and case management to optimize patient outcomes and safe discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and self-management strategies to support recovery and prevent readmission.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and neurology-focused best practices within the unit and organization.
- Precept and mentor new nurses and support staff, modeling BJC values of compassion, safety, and clinical excellence.
