St. David's Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). In this role, you will provide evidence-based, family-centered critical care to high-acuity pediatric patients, including continuous assessment, medication administration, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. You'll champion patient safety, participate in care planning and education, and use advanced monitoring equipment. Responsibilities
- Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICUContinuously assess, monitor, and document patient status using advanced monitoring equipment
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to provider orders and protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members on care plans
- Educate and support patients' families regarding conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care
- Participate in emergency responses, codes, and stabilization of rapidly changing patients
- Maintain strict adherence to patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards
- Use electronic health records accurately for documentation and communication
- Precept, mentor, and share best practices with peers when appropriate
- Engage in ongoing professional development, competencies, and quality improvement initiatives
