Job Description
HCA Healthcare is seeking a dedicated RN to join our Trauma Stepdown PCU team. In this fast-paced unit, you will provide evidence-based care to trauma and high-acuity stepdown patients, perform complex assessments, manage continuous monitoring, administer medications and therapies, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. You will educate patients and families, support safe transitions of care, and uphold strict safety and infection control standards. Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to trauma and high-acuity stepdown/PCU patients
- Perform comprehensive assessments and continuous monitoring of vital signs and telemetry
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products per protocols
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team on care plans and interventions
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation and follow hospital policies
- Monitor for and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating appropriately
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards
- Support patient transitions between ICU, stepdown, and med-surg units
- Participate in ongoing training, skills development, and unit-based initiatives
