Speech Pathologist

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Speech Pathologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team on an as-needed basis. In this role, you will assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders across diverse patient populations. You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team, develop individualized treatment plans, and document progress in accordance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing evaluations using standardized assessments and clinical observations
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans to address communication and dysphagia needs
• Provide individual and group therapy to adult patients in hospital and/or outpatient settings
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on diagnosis, prognosis, treatment plans, and home exercise programs
• Document evaluations, daily treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and in a timely manner within the EMRCollaborate with physicians, nursing, rehabilitation, and case management staff during care conferences and daily patient care activities
• Contribute to discharge planning, including recommendations for follow-up services and necessary equipment or supports
• Adhere to all professional, ethical, and regulatory standards, including HIPAA and infection control policies
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and utilize outcome measures to guide treatment and program development
• Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education and active participation in professional development offered by Piedmont Healthcare

Required Skills

• Speech-language pathology evaluation and treatment
• Dysphagia assessment and management (including bedside swallow evaluations)
• Cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation
• Knowledge of neurogenic communication disorders (e.g., aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia)
• Voice and speech intelligibility therapy techniques
• Clinical documentation and EMR proficiency
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and communication
• Patient and family education
• Care planning and time management
• Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and professional standards (ASHA, state board)
