Memorial Health in Savannah, GA is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders across acute and critical care settings. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic tests, administering treatments, managing ventilators, documenting care, and collaborating with physicians and nurses to develop care plans. Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients during night shifts at Memorial Health
  • Initiate, manage, and monitor mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols
  • Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and other respiratory treatments while monitoring patient responses and documenting outcomes
  • Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases, interpret results, and communicate critical values to the care team promptly
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies, rapid response calls, and code situations, providing airway management and life-support interventions
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment, ensuring proper function, calibration, and infection control compliance
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals within the Healthcare & Medical Services department to develop and adjust individualized care plans
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home-care instructions to support ongoing disease management
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record in alignment with Memorial Health policies and regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and continuing education aligned with Memorial Health's culture of compassion, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Support the orientation and mentorship of new team members and students as needed on the night shift
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, safety guidelines, and infection prevention measures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
