Reston Hospital Center seeks a Registered Nurse for our Operating Room team. In this role, you'll deliver safe, evidence based perioperative care, supporting patients through all phases of surgery. You will prepare the OR, manage instruments and equipment, assist surgeons and anesthesia providers, and closely monitor patient status, advocating for safety and comfort at every step. Working with advanced technology and a collaborative surgical team, you'll uphold high clinical and ethical standards while participating in ongoing education and quality improvement to advance your skills and career.
Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in the operating room
- Prepare OR, instruments, and equipment according to surgical procedures and safety standards
- Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during procedures, maintaining a sterile field
- Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and document care throughout surgery
- Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and hospital protocols
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs to coordinate patient care
- Advocate for patient safety, comfort, and informed care before, during, and after surgery
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards in all OR activities
- Participate in staff education, competencies, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding perioperative processes and expectations
