Registered Nurse Rapid Response

Job Description

Mission Health in Asheville, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Rapid Response team. In this critical role, you'll respond to patient deterioration on acute care units, perform rapid assessments, initiate evidence-based interventions, and collaborate with physicians and bedside teams. You will stabilize patients, coordinate safe transfers, support code blue events, and mentor staff in early recognition of clinical decline. Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to rapid response and code blue activations across inpatient units.
  • Perform rapid, focused assessments to identify patient deterioration and initiate evidence-based interventions.
  • Stabilize patients and coordinate safe transfer to higher levels of care when indicated.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, bedside nurses, respiratory therapists, and other clinicians.
  • Use advanced monitoring and clinical judgment to recognize early signs of decline.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EMR.
  • Educate and mentor bedside staff on early warning signs, escalation pathways, and response protocols.
  • Participate in debriefs, quality improvement initiatives, and protocol refinement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, safety standards, and infection prevention practices.
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed for 24/7 coverage.
