RWJBarnabas Health, New Jersey's largest integrated healthcare system, is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our Cancer Center team in New Brunswick, NJ. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory assessments for oncology and complex medical patients in inpatient and outpatient settings
- Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen, aerosolized medications, bronchial hygiene techniques, and related treatments
- Manage non invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation in collaboration with physicians and care teams
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and bedside spirometry
- Monitor patients' clinical status and adjust respiratory therapies and ventilator settings per protocols and physician orders
- Respond to respiratory emergencies, rapid responses, and codes, assisting with airway management and stabilization
- Provide tracheostomy care, assist with intubation preparation, and support extubation readiness evaluations
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, equipment use, and self management strategies
- Document all assessments, treatments, and patient education accurately in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary oncology and hospital teams to develop and coordinate individualized care plans
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards in all aspects of respiratory care
- Participate in quality improvement, evidence based practice initiatives, and continuing education activities
