Job Description
Encompass Health seeks a dedicated Speech Pathologist to deliver evidence-based speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing services within our inpatient rehabilitation setting. You will evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide direct therapy to support functional communication and safe swallowing. Collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary rehab team, you'll educate patients and families, document in the EMR, and contribute to high-quality, patient-centered outcomes in a nurturing, dynamic, and rewarding environment with strong growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Provide direct therapy to support functional communication and safe swallowing
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PT/OT, and other team members on coordinated rehab plans
- Educate patients and families on communication strategies and home programs
- Document assessments, goals, and progress accurately in the EMR system
- Participate in care conferences and contribute to discharge planning
- Adhere to regulatory, ethical, and billing requirements for speech therapy services
- Contribute to quality improvement and outcome measurement initiatives
