Speech Pathologist

Altru Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Altru Health System, is seeking a dedicated Speech Pathologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders for inpatient and outpatient populations, collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary rehab team. You'll develop individualized treatment plans, provide patient and family education, and document progress to support long-term recovery. Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in a rehabilitation setting
• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including standardized testing and dysphagia evaluations, and update treatment plans based on patient progress
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans with measurable functional goals
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions, as well as patient, family, and caregiver education on communication and swallowing strategies
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and social workers to coordinate care
• Document assessments, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Participate in discharge planning and make recommendations for continued therapy, home exercise programs, and assistive or augmentative communication devices as needed
• Contribute to quality improvement, program development, and professional education activities within the rehabilitation department
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, licensing, and professional practice standards, including privacy and safety policies
