Speech Language Pathologist

Job Description

Northwell Health seeks a compassionate Speech Language Pathologist to provide evaluation and treatment for patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in acute and outpatient settings. You will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement evidence-based care plans, and document outcomes in the EMR while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, rehab therapists, and families. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders using standardized tools and clinical observation.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans aligned with patient goals and physician orders.
  • Document evaluations, goals, and progress in the electronic medical record in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, and care coordinators to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment strategies, and home exercise programs to support carryover.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and uphold best practices, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Mentor students or junior staff and engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
