Job Description
RWJBarnabas Health, New Jersey's largest integrated healthcare system, is seeking a Surgical / OR Tech I to support safe, efficient surgical care in a high-acuity operating room. In this entry-level role, you will prepare ORs, assemble and maintain instruments, and assist surgeons and nurses while upholding strict aseptic and infection control standards. You'll help with patient positioning, counts, room turnover, and documentation. Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Assist surgeons and OR staff during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile field
- Ensure strict adherence to aseptic and infection control standards
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments with RN before, during, and after surgery
- Handle and care for surgical instruments and equipment properly
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping as directed
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, supplies, and implants
- Support room turnover, cleaning, and restocking between cases
- Collaborate with the surgical team to promote patient safety and positive outcomes
- Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives
