Oncology Pharmacist

Job Description

Carle Health is seeking an Oncology Pharmacist to provide advanced pharmaceutical care to oncology and hematology patients. In this role, you will verify chemotherapy and supportive care orders, perform clinical medication reviews, and ensure safe preparation and dispensing of hazardous and non-hazardous medications. You will collaborate closely with oncologists, nurses, and care teams to optimize regimens, manage side effects, and educate patients and staff. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, committed to patient safety, and eager to grow within a collaborative, research-informed, community-focused health system.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and review chemotherapy and supportive care medication orders for accuracy and safety
  • Prepare and dispense hazardous and non-hazardous oncology medications in compliance with USP standards
  • Perform clinical medication therapy management for oncology and hematology patients
  • Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize treatment regimens
  • Monitor and manage chemotherapy-related adverse effects and drug interactions
  • Provide medication counseling and education to patients and caregivers
  • Educate and support clinical staff on oncology pharmacotherapy and safe handling procedures
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and adherence to institutional protocols
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Contribute to research, protocol development, and professional development activities
