Job Description
RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Surgical / OR Tech III to support complex procedures in a fast-paced operating room. In this senior tech role, you'll prepare ORs, ensure proper instrumentation, and maintain strict sterile technique to support safe, efficient surgeries. You'll work closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers, anticipating needs and assisting with patient positioning, counts, and specimen handling. Responsibilities
- Prepare operating room and ensure all equipment and instruments are available and functioning
- Assist surgical team with patient positioning, prepping, and draping
- Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques during procedures
- Anticipate surgeon needs and provide appropriate instruments and supplies
- Handle specimens safely and label according to protocols
- Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts with circulating nurse
- Clean, restock, and turn over operating rooms between cases
- Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia providers for coordinated care
- Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives
