Job Description
Northern Nevada Medical Center, an acute care hospital in Sparks, Nevada, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this patient-focused, collaborative environment, you will assess, treat, and care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders, administer respiratory therapies, manage ventilators, and support emergency and critical care services. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and contribute to individualized respiratory care plans for patients in acute and critical care settings.
- Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol and nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, and non-invasive ventilation such as Bi
- PAP/CPAP.
- Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and related respiratory equipment, collaborating with physicians and nurses on ventilator management and weaning.
- Obtain, analyze, and interpret arterial blood gases and other relevant diagnostic tests, clearly communicating results to the care team to guide treatment decisions.
- Respond to emergency situations, including codes and rapid response calls, providing airway management support and life-sustaining respiratory interventions within scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic medical record, adhering to hospital and regulatory standards.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, therapies, equipment use, and strategies to promote optimal respiratory health and safe discharge planning.
- Adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols in all respiratory procedures and equipment handling to protect patients, families, and staff.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate closely with the broader healthcare team to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities offered by NNMC to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
