Registered Veterinary Technician

Job Description

Johnson County Animal Clinic, a full-service small animal hospital in Overland Park, KS, is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our collaborative team. The RVT will provide high-quality nursing care, assist with exams and surgeries, monitor anesthesia, perform dental cleanings and radiographs, place IV catheters, administer medications, and run in-house lab and diagnostic tests. This role also supports client education, preventive care, and accurate medical recordkeeping. You'll work with modern equipment, a supportive veterinary team, and have the opportunity to grow your skills while building lasting relationships with pets and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care for dogs and cats under veterinarian supervision
  • Assist with physical exams, medical treatments, and patient triage
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures
  • Perform dental prophylaxis, dental charting, and dental radiographs
  • Place IV catheters and administer medications, fluids, and injections
  • Run in-house lab work and operate diagnostic equipment
  • Maintain accurate, detailed electronic medical records and treatment sheets
  • Educate clients on preventive care, treatment plans, and home care instructions
  • Ensure clean, safe, and well-stocked treatment, surgery, and exam areas
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and support staff to deliver compassionate, efficient care
