Job Description

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a dedicated Med-Surg Registered Nurse for our Camden location. In this role, you will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions for diverse adult populations. You will monitor patient status, administer medications, perform wound and IV care, and ensure accurate EMR documentation. Working in an academic health system, you will precept students, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, support quality and safety initiatives, and contribute to MUSC's mission of innovation, education, and compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive Med-Surg nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely, following hospital protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Monitor, document, and report changes in patient condition using EMR systems with accurate and timely charting.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate and optimize patient care.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, discharge plans, and self-care strategies.
  • Perform wound care, post-operative care, and pain management while maintaining high safety and infection-control standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives within the unit.
  • Precept and support nursing students and new staff in an academic teaching environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to promote a positive patient experience.
  • Adhere to MUSC policies, regulatory standards, and professional nursing ethics and scope of practice.
