Under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse assigned to each shift, assists with care and daily activity of residents, performing related tasks in improving the quality of life and helping ensure quality care for residents. Reports to supervisor/manager of unit.
Maintains and supports the Christian mission, values and philosophy of St. Catherine’s Village Performs routine Nursing Assistant duties according to the list of approved assignments. Supports and/or conducts planned spontaneous activities with residents to promote the highest possible level of resident functioning. Provides supervision and/or assistance with toileting, various personal care services such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and walking to effectively meet individual resident needs Serves food and provides eating assistance according to instructions to meet therapeutic needs of the residents. Completes required documentation to ensure satisfactory maintenance of medical records and for future planning and evaluation. Operates equipment properly and maintains cleanliness of equipment to promote optimal efficiency and decrease unnecessary maintenance. Completes all cleaning assignments to maintain standards of sanitation. Follows policies and procedures of the Village and Department. Maintains confidentiality of resident information at all times. Respects residents’ rights and individual dignity of all residents. Reports pertinent resident information to the Charge Nurse. Understands role in the Village fire, safety and disaster programs. Observes required dress code and maintains appropriate conduct and appearance. Performs other duties as assigned.
