Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician

Essentia Health seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician to perform accurate, timely diagnostic testing that supports patient-centered care. Responsibilities include specimen collection and processing, operating and maintaining analyzers, performing and documenting quality control, and validating and reporting results in the Laboratory Information System. You will collaborate with nurses and providers, follow CLIA/CAP and infection-prevention standards, and help troubleshoot instrumentation. Responsibilities

• Perform and verify diagnostic tests in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, and/or transfusion services.
• Collect, label, and process specimens following strict identification and handling protocols.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment, documenting all activities.
• Perform and review quality control, participate in proficiency testing, and take corrective action as needed.
• Report accurate, timely results through the Laboratory Information System and communicate critical values to providers.
• Follow CLIA/CAP and Essentia Health safety, infection-prevention, and documentation standards.
• Assist in troubleshooting instrumentation and test performance issues to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with nurses, providers, and other team members to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Participate in training of new staff or students and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
