JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician III at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for collaborating with internal and external staff to uphold the hospital's mission and vision. The role encompasses filling medication orders, delivering medications, and maintaining accurate record-keeping. The position requires compliance with pharmaceutical guidelines, effective communication, and the ability to work independently under moderate supervision.
JOB FUNCTIONS
People: 
• Interact with internal and external staff to promote the hospital’s mission and vision. 
Service: 
• Assist Pharmacist in filling medication orders according to policy and procedures. 
• Deliver medications. 
• Responsible for mixing non-hazardous IV medications, including TPNs (sterile compounding position)
• Responsible for mixing hazardous IV medications, decontaminating hazardous spaces, and maintaining hazardous drug inventory on >50% of their worked days (sterile compounding position)
• Perform required record keeping. 
Quality: 
• Responsible for dispensing medication in an accurate and efficient manner. 
• Perform monthly review of inventory for out of date medications. 
• Compliance with all USP 797 and 800 guidelines (sterile compounding position). 
Financial: 
• Responsible for monitory medication inventory levels. 
• Responsible for notifying appropriate personnel of supply needs. 
• Responsible for daily restocking of medications. 
Growth: 
• Routine interaction with departmental staff and supervisor to provided improvements to the medication process.


Qualifications




Education

  •  High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Required

    Licenses and Certifications
  • Must be currently certified or actively seeking certification as a Pharmacy Tech by the Pharmacy Tech Credentialing Board (PTCB) or other nationally-recognized pharmacy technician credentialing body (90 days from hire to complete). Upon Hire. Required And
  • Must be currently registered or seeing registration (30 days from hire to complete) with the State Board of Pharmacy-  Must meet current Pharmacy regulation. within 30 Days. Required Or
  • In lieu of technician registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, a graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy pursuing licensure as a pharmacist is acceptable.. Upon Hire. Required And
  • Must be registered with Board of Pharmacy as a student intern/extern. Upon Hire. Required

    Work Experience
  • 1-3 years. Minimum of 3 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician;
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited program/Military Pharmacy Tech Program and 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician accepted
  • B.S. Degree and 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician accepted. Required Or
  • If graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy pursuing licensure as a pharmacist , experiential hours is acceptable.. Required

  • Ability to work well with a wide variety of people
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly motivated in order to manage time appropriately
  • Must understand multiple operational processes and possess multiple skills to perform the job
  • Must be able to work independently under moderate supervision of a Pharmacist
  • Must work closely with all Pharmacy team members and Healthcare professionals
  • Must communicate daily with employees and depends who need prescriptions filled
