Speech Pathologist

Job Description

Encompass Health seeks a compassionate Speech Pathologist to deliver comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing services in our inpatient rehabilitation setting. You will evaluate patients, develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, and collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team to support safe, meaningful recovery and transitions of care. Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
  • Document assessments, goals, and progress in the EHR in a timely and accurate manner
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and case managers on interdisciplinary care plans
  • Educate patients and families on communication and swallowing strategies, home programs, and safety
  • Participate in team conferences and discharge planning to support safe transitions of care
  • Monitor and adjust treatment based on patient response and functional outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and documentation standards
  • Contribute to quality improvement and clinical best-practice initiatives
  • Mentor or support students and new clinicians as appropriate
