Job Description
Encompass Health seeks a compassionate Speech Pathologist for our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this inpatient rehab role, you will evaluate and treat adults with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders resulting from injury or illness. You will design and deliver individualized, evidence-based treatment plans, provide education to patients and families, and document progress using EMR. Collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary care team, you'll support patient-centered rehabilitation in a nurturing, dynamic environment with opportunities for career growth and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Provide dysphagia assessment and management, including diet and strategy recommendations
- Educate patients and families on communication and swallowing strategies and home programs
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PT/OT, and other team members on care planning
- Document assessments, goals, progress notes, and outcomes in EMR accurately and timely
- Participate in care conferences and discharge planning to support functional outcomes
- Adhere to regulatory, ethical, and safety standards in a medical rehab environment
