Job Description
A health services network in Brooklyn, New York is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join their Inpatient Psychiatric team. In this role, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide locum tenens coverage in a busy adult inpatient setting. The role involves delivering comprehensive psychiatric assessment, medication management, and interdisciplinary care for patients with acute behavioral health needs.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4-5 days per week
- Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week
- Setting: Inpatient Psychiatry
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and admission assessments
- Diagnose and manage acute psychiatric conditions
- Conduct daily follow-up visits and medication management
- Develop and update individualized treatment plans
- Complete progress notes and clinical documentation in the EMR
Qualifications:
- Active New York Nurse Practitioner license
- Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- DEA registration or ability to obtain
- Experience in inpatient psychiatry
- Strong assessment, diagnostic, and medication management skills
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities
Desired Skills:
- Experience working in a high-acuity inpatient psychiatric unit
- Familiarity with adult behavioral health populations
- Experience with hospital EMR documentation
