Speech Language Pathologist

University Hospitals Rehabilitation Hospital in Beachwood, OH seeks a Speech Language Pathologist to join our interdisciplinary rehab team. In this role, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders following stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, and other complex conditions. You will collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and nurses, develop evidence-based treatment plans, educate patients and families, and contribute to discharge planning while practicing in a supportive, patient-centered, and learning-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate adult inpatients for speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders using standardized and functional assessments
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans focused on functional communication, cognition, and safe swallowing
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions, adjusting interventions based on patient tolerance, progress, and goals
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing, physical and occupational therapists, and case management during interdisciplinary team conferences and daily care coordination
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies, cognitive supports, and safe swallowing and diet recommendations
• Complete timely, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, including evaluations, daily notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries
• Contribute to discharge planning, including recommendations for follow-up services, equipment, and home safety or supervision needs
• Participate in performance improvement, clinical programming, and evidence-based practice initiatives within the rehabilitation hospital
• Maintain professional licensure, certifications, and continuing education to support advanced clinical practice in adult neurorehabilitation
• Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, infection prevention practices, and ethical and regulatory requirements for speech-language pathology practice
