Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based nursing care to critically ill surgical ICU patients on night shift
- Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient status, responding rapidly to changes
- Administer medications, infusions, blood products, and manage advanced equipment such as ventilators and drips
- Collaborate with intensivists, surgeons, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges while ensuring safe handoffs
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and post-ICU care plans
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and comply with hospital and regulatory standards
- Participate in code and rapid response situations, following critical care protocols
- Precept and mentor newer nurses, contributing to a culture of learning and teamwork
- Support quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the ICU
