Esophageal/Motility RN

Job Description

Methodist Health System seeks an Esophageal/Motility RN to provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing esophageal and GI motility testing. The RN will coordinate and perform motility procedures, ensure accurate monitoring and documentation, and deliver clear patient education before and after testing. Working within a mission-driven, faith-based, and team-focused environment, this nurse collaborates closely with gastroenterologists and multidisciplinary staff, supports quality and safety initiatives, and contributes to continual learning and process improvement that directly impact community health in North Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate esophageal and GI motility studies, including patient prep, procedure assistance, and post-test care
  • Monitor, document, and interpret patient responses during motility procedures per physician orders and protocols
  • Provide patient education on procedures, pre/post-test instructions, and follow-up care in a clear, compassionate manner
  • Collaborate with gastroenterologists, nurses, and techs to ensure safe, quality, and efficient workflow
  • Maintain and calibrate motility and monitoring equipment; ensure infection prevention and safety standards
  • Accurately document procedures, findings, and nursing assessments in the electronic health record
  • Participate in quality improvement, staff education, and evidence-based practice initiatives
  • Support onboarding and mentoring of new staff in motility procedures and unit standards
