Endocrinology - Physician - Academics

Job Summary

The Endocrinologist will serve as a faculty member in the Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine with a focus on clinical care, medical education, and academic research in endocrinology, including at Grady Hospital Health System. Grady Hospital Health System is one of the largest public academic programs in the United States, situated in downtown Atlanta. It has over 600 hospital beds, a nationally accredited Level 1 Trauma Center, and is the major provider of emergency ambulance service in the metro-Atlanta region.

The role involves providing high-quality patient care, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and contributing to ongoing clinical and/or translational research. The successful candidate will support the medical school's mission through excellence in clinical service, scholarly activity, and education.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care in endocrinology, with a focus on conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, adrenal and pituitary diseases, osteoporosis, and other metabolic disorders.
2. Participate in medical education by teaching medical students, residents, and endocrine fellows in both clinical and didactic settings.
3. Engage in scholarly activities, including clinical research, publications, and participation in academic conferences.
4. Contribute to curriculum development, clinical protocol improvement, and quality assurance initiatives within the division.
5. Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams across internal medicine and subspecialties.
6. Participate in departmental and institutional service activities, including faculty meetings and committees.
7. Supervise and mentor junior faculty, fellows, and trainees as appropriate.
8. Participate in community outreach or continuing medical education events on behalf of the medical school.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Deep understanding of endocrine physiology, pathophysiology, diagnostics, and therapeutics.
2. Knowledge of current standards of care in managing diabetes, thyroid disorders, metabolic bone disease, and hormonal imbalances.
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
4. Proficiency in data interpretation and application of evidence-based medicine.
5. Competency in using endocrine diagnostic tools (e.g., ultrasound, continuous glucose monitors, DEXA scans). Thyroid FNA is plus.
6. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary academic environment.
7. Demonstrated commitment to equity in clinical and educational settings.
